Dirty Bits: Renthal Lock-On Grips

Renthal Lock-On grips are offered in four different rubber compounds, with each offering different qualities. There’s a ‘soft’ compound which offers a high level of tackiness and vibration absorption but slightly compromised durability and control. Go even softer to the ‘super comfort’ compound and they are even tackier but the durability really suffers. At the opposite end of the scale, the ‘medium’ grips are rated highly for durability and control but lack a bit of finger traction. In addition to the three regular compounds, Renthal also does a ‘Kevlar’ version that’s meant to provide the best overall blend of grip, comfort and durability. Aside from the customisable rubber compounds, the grips also feature locking collars that are permanently integrated in the central core—this ensures that they never work loose or shift over time. The regular rubber compounds sell for $40 while the Kevlar grips go for $45.
