Merida set out to make bikes fun again with the 2021 BIG.TRAIL range

Merida are aiming to offer riders simple fun in the form of the new BIG.TRAIL range to be released in September.

The Taiwanese-based brand announced on Thursday (AEST) the 2021 line-up of the trail bike will consist of four models.

Boasting 29er wheels with up to 2.5” tyre clearance as well as long dropper posts, the BIG.TRAIL looks to be one fun machine.

We’ll have our hands on the BIG.TRAIL 500 soon and we’ll have a review in the November/December/January issue of Mountain Biking Australia magazine.

So, what can riders expect?

Modern Geometry

The BIG.TRAIL features a 65.5 head angle, a steeper 75.6 seat angle and a reach of up to 475mm to ensure riders are comfortable thundering down trails as well as those long climbs. Downhill sections should also be a lot more fun with the longer 140mm fork.

Merida have also decided to go with a short seat tube and sloping top tube. The resulting low stand over height means riders should choose a size that matches their riding style as opposed to juts their height. The German-designed brand’s recommendations are a larger size for those looking for speed while riders wanting more agility should opt for a smaller model.
